Nobuntu, the female a cappella quartet from Zimbabwe, has drawn international acclaim for its inventive performances that range from traditional Zimbabwean songs to Afro Jazz to Gospel. The ensemble’s concerts are performed with pure voices, augmented by minimalistic percussion, traditional instruments such as the Mbira (thumb piano) and organic, authentic dance movements.

A little bat, Stellaluna, is separated from her mother during a night of foraging and lands in a nest full of birds. Mama bird happily adopts her, but Stellaluna just can’t change her “batty” ways. Join Stone Lion and Roswell Cultural Arts for a great tale of acceptance adapted from the book by Janell Cannon.

Ron Rash, the Roswell Reads 2024 author selection, will talk with Atlanta Writers Club Executive Director George Weinstein about his latest novel, The Caretaker. Writer to Writer is an opportunity for local wordsmiths and those interested in publishing their work to hear from a New York Times bestselling author about his creative process and approach to writing and publishing. Audience questions are welcomed. Refreshments will be served.

The Roswell Reads 2024 author selection is Ron Rash, author of The New York Times bestseller, Serena, and 20 books of poetry and fiction. Rash will discuss his recently published novel, The Caretaker, in conversation with Robert Gwaltney, winner of the 2023 Georgia Author of the Year for First Novel for The Cicada Tree. Refreshments will be served.

Concert featuring the Atlanta Balalaika Society orchestra playing a potpourri of folk music and modern music from Ukraine, Russia, Greece, and other lands. Featured guest artists String Time Duo (Angeleina Galashenkova-Reed, domra and Marina Alexandra, guitar, will present a medley of folk and contemporary pieces from several places.

A FREE performance culminating The City of Roswell’s Dia De Muertos (Day of the Dead) Festival.

Two-time Latin Grammy-nominated Afro-Andean Funk presents roots music fused with world music and funk, featuring themes of social struggle, shamanic rituals, and indigenous Peruvian traditions. Their music aims at uniting musical cultures and bringing visibility to the Quechua language – the most widely spoken indigenous language in South America.

Enjoy this Halloween treat for adults and experience the excitement of being in the audience of a spine-tingling radio/podcast recording. Our story is set In feudal Japan, where an ill wind blows. One which can raise an army of the Living Dead! The rotting corpses of Lord Yunagi have their undead sights set on the small farming town of Kana, which is unfortunately in the path of ultimate conquest. Can disgraced Samurai Kambe and Seven Zombie Hunters train the villagers to defeat the insatiable ghouls to the horde and unravel their mystery before all is lost? This event will be performed in the intimate B-side theatre and will feature a live Foley artist alongside the top voice actors in the region.

Anna, Sheila, and Clare Friel are traditional musicians from the Doire na Mainséar, Donegal in the North West of Ireland. Being siblings, they achieve a close blend on fiddle, flute, and uilleann pipes interspersed with songs sung in unison, many from their family and local repertoire. Joined more recently by Marty Barry on guitar and Cathal Ó Curráin on bouzouki, the ladies have won many prestigious titles over the years, including Clare receiving the 2018 honor of TG4 Young Musician of the Year in Ireland. Olivia Bradley, an Atlanta favorite local Irish singer, will open for the band at 7:30 p.m. and The Friel Sisters will be on at 8:00 p.m.
